Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how FaithOne ("FaithOne", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the FaithOne mobile application (the "App"). By using the App you agree to this Policy.

1. Who this policy is for

FaithOne is a multi-faith devotional short-video and worship app for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them (see §9).

2. Information we collect

a. Information you provide

• Account details: your phone number (when you sign in with a one-time SMS code) or your Google account name and email address (when you use Google Sign-In); or a username, email address, and password (stored only as a salted PBKDF2 hash — we never store or can read your plain password). Plus any optional profile name, bio, and avatar you add.
• Content you create: videos ("reels") and image posts you upload, captions, hashtags, comments, and chat messages you send.
• Preferences: the faith(s), language(s), and topics you choose during onboarding, used to personalize your feed.

b. Information collected automatically

• Interaction signals: views, likes, saves, follows, skips, and reports — used to rank and personalize your feed and to enforce our content policy.
• Device & technical data: app version, device model, OS version, and basic log/diagnostic data needed to operate and debug the service.

c. Permissions we request (and why)

• Camera / Photos & media: only when you choose to record or upload content. We access media solely to let you create and post. We do not scan your gallery in the background.
• Contacts: only if you use "Find friends", and only after you grant permission. Your contacts are matched once to show which of them are already on FaithOne; we do not store your contact list on our servers or use it for advertising. You can decline this and still use the App.
• Notifications: we register a push token so we can send you alerts (likes, comments, follows, chat messages, and upload results).
• Audio playback: to play aarti recordings and reel audio.

We do not collect precise location, health, or financial data. FaithOne has no ads and no in-app payments or donations at this time.

3. How we use your information

• Operate core features: accounts, the video feed, the worship space, follows, comments, and direct messages.
• Personalize your feed to your chosen faith(s) and interests, with a safety guardrail that down-weights divisive content.
• Moderate content to keep the platform safe: every uploaded video is screened by an automated classifier that decides whether it is published, sent to a human reviewer, or blocked. Content that may attack another faith is always routed to a human. (See our Community Guidelines.)
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with law.

Automated content processing. To run moderation, video, audio, caption, and transcript data is sent to our content-classification provider (see §5). This is processing to enforce safety rules, not advertising profiling.

4. Legal bases (where applicable, e.g. GDPR / India DPDP Act)

We process data to perform our contract with you (providing the App), for our legitimate interests (safety, moderation, product improvement), to meet legal obligations, and on your consent for optional permissions (camera, media), which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers ("data processors") who run the service on our behalf and are bound to protect it: cloud hosting/storage & CDN for media, Google Firebase for phone-number (SMS) sign-in and Google Sign-In, a push-notification service (Expo / Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver alerts, and a third-party AI content-moderation provider that classifies uploaded content for safety. These providers process data only per our instructions.
• Other users, for content you choose to make public (your profile, published reels, comments) and messages you send to people you chat with.
• Legal / safety, where required by law or to protect users and the platform.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and content while your account is active. Moderation decisions and safety labels may be retained to enforce policy and improve classifier accuracy. When you delete your account (§7), we delete or de-identify your personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or abuse-prevention reasons.

7. Your rights & choices — including account & data deletion

You can:

• Edit your profile and preferences in the app.
• Delete your account and associated data — in the App via Profile → Settings → Delete account, or by emailing support@faithone.in with the subject "Delete my account". We honor deletion requests within 30 days. (See our Account & Data Deletion page.)
• Depending on your region, access, correct, port, or object to processing of your data, and withdraw consent for device permissions. Email us to exercise these rights.

8. Security

Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes. Direct messages are encrypted at rest. We use access controls and encrypted transport (HTTPS) for data in transit. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify users and regulators of breaches where required by law.

9. Children's privacy

FaithOne is intended for users 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

The App is operated from India and content is intended for a PAN-India audience. If you use the App from outside India, your information may be processed in India and other countries where our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be notified in-app or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
